Effects of Globalization
Globalization has greatly increased the international movement of harmful species. Foreign travel has become commonplace today, resulting in the constant exchange of people, airplanes, and ships throughout the world.
In addition to foreign travel, we love to import and experience the new and exotic in international foods, beautiful flowers from faraway places, and even unusual pets. Farmers often try to introduce new crops from other countries in order to increase their profits, or inject new insects to fight against other insects that might be attacking their fields. But the results are not always as expected.
